Subj : America's Best Friend To : All From : Lee Lofaso Date : Thu Sep 05 2013 23:28:11 Hello Everybody, On this day, five years ago, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice became the highest-ranking American official in half a century to visit Libya, where she met with GWB's newest pal, Moammar Gadhafi. Of course, this should have come to no surprise, as years earlier Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld had gone to Iraq, shaking Saddam Hussein's hand. In those days, it was okay for madmen such as Saddam Hussein to use chemical weapons on others (and his own people). But that was only because Ronald Reagan (our greatest president) said so. After all, we could not afford for Iran to kidnap any more Americans. GWB claimed it was necessary for the United States to invade Iraq because Saddam Hussein had stockpiles of WMD. Never mind that no such stockpiles of WMD have ever been found. That's not the point. GWB said so, so it must be true. President Barack Obama is asking the Congress to authorize the use of military force against Syria, on grounds that the Syrian regime has used chemical weapons on its own people. President Ronald Reagan was best buds with Saddam Hussein. President George W. Bush was best buds with Moammar Gadhafi. President Barack Obama did not ask the Congress to authorize the use of military force against Libya. Instead, he acted on his own authority. It was regime change - Obama-style. No trial for the Libyan dictator. Or if he had one, it was very short. Republicans applauded Ronald Reagan when he made friends with Saddam Hussein. Republicans applauded George W. Bush when he befriended Moammar Gadhafi. Where was the condemnation from Republicans when the US Ambassador to Libya and three other Americans were murdered by terrorists? Rather than condemn the terrorists, Republicans chose to condemn President Obama. Why? Because President Obama succeeded where his Republican predecessors failed. Dictators are not our friends. Dictators are not friends with anybody who is pro-democracy. Unless it serves their purposes, dictators have no friends. And yet there will always be folks such as Donald Rumsfeld and Condoleezza Rice, putting on a smiling face and shaking the hand of a psychotic killer. Oh, did I mention Nancy Pelosi? She did meet with Bashar al-Assad, in Damascus, a few years ago. He was a very gracious host, from what I understand. --Lee --- MesNews/1.06.00.00-gb * Origin: news://felten.yi.org (2:203/2) .
