Subj : Coronavirus and fires To : KURT WEISKE From : Mike Powell Date : Sun Aug 23 2020 09:22:00 > I'm on the California coast; last weekend we had a freak dry lightning > storm that saw 11,000 bolts of lightning, which ended up causing > 300-something fires. We have a 63,000 acre fire 5 miles away from us > burning now, with another 40,000 acres burning not that much farther > away. 77,000 people have been evacuated so far, and almost 25,000 > structures are threatened. I saw a headline yesterday, which could have been click-bait, that claimed that California was now experiencing its worst fires "ever." I cannot imagine it being much worse than some of the images from a year or two ago, so I hope that is not the case. :( Sounds like you could have used some of the heavy rains we got yesterday.
