The trick to get rid of SH> it is to find someone to take it for free if they move SH> it. That's how mom got rid of hers. The problem is that there seems to be no local market for these beasts. Even one local church has THREE old uprights in storage! So, even if I offered it up for free, there would be no takers in my neighborhood. Another thing.. the piano was maneuvered into the house BEFORE the front door and frame and walls were completed. We could go through the front ground-floor door, up one flight of stairs and straight through an internal wall (before all the 2x4's where inserted) and reach the living room area. Now, it would be nearly impossible to extract the piano via the front doorway. One other way might be straight out the 8x10' sliding glass door, but then there would be a 12 foot drop to worry about. The sound board is interesting to look at though. When I played it, I would often lift off the front panel so that I could watch the hammers strike the strings. It sounded louder that way too. The sound board could look cool as a piece of wall art. Based on the non uniform colouring, the keys in my particular piano appear to be genuine ivory too. :/ Perhaps I can repurpose the keys into an art piece as way to honour the proboscidea that made its contribution. Yeah... I'll probably strip it down, salvage what I think looks interesting, smash and burn the rest. I even have an old worn-out fold-out sofa bed. It's heavy as hell. There's no way I can get that out of the house all by myself either. That's another one I've imagined needs to be taken apart metal-piece by piece. -- ../|ug --- OpenXP 5.0.49 * Origin: Mobile?
