An 8GB SSD sounds pretty small - was it an MMC card? I know some vintage 
Thinkpads I've run into (mostly T450s) had a 2.5" SATA drive and a small-ish 
(8-16gb MMC card) that acted as a drive cache with the right Windows 
software.
