Were you using MIS previous to a46, or were you using some other means? Previous to a46, I used the ddtelnetd wrapper and xinetd. What utility are you using to show you these port numbers? The server_telnet.log will well which port the that it loads on. In my log, it says port 23. If yours says something different, then it's likely that you have it set up on a different port in the configs. te> Normally I log in as root, cd to /home/mysticbbs, and run ./mis. If you do not normally run your BBS as root, then this will not work for you. You need to use the 'sudo /home/mysticbbs/mis -d' command to start it. Otherwise it will run as root, and not as user mysticbbs. te> mystic is configured for IP address 0.0.0.0, so first I tried changing te> that to the host's ethernet IP, but no good. te> te> Then I tried sudo'ing from the mysticbbs user, and no good. te> te> ps aux tells me it's running as mysticbbs user, so that part's good. te> te> I ended up rolling back to my previous MIS (a42), but the rest of the te> binaries are a46. te> te> Anyone else encountered this? How do you run Mystic under Linux? Is this te> a bug or do I need to change something? Previous to a46, I did not use MIS for the telnet server. The problems you are describing sound like the ones I had before going to a46. I can state that is working fine for me. I'm running on debian. What distro are you using?
