Subj : Even the whole idea of just installing T To : Charles Pierson From : August Abolins Date : Sun Oct 11 2020 21:08:38 Hi Charles! 11 Oct 20 13:38, you wrote to me: CP> they're actually the email folder. I guess I simply put too much faith into the hardware to not break. CP>>> I do think some BBSes at least do have a "forgot password".. I know... but the TZ difference could render the wait as big inconvenience. Something automated/self-serve would be good. AA>> I'm now preoccupied copying the Firefox login creds for some of AA>> the online web resources I use for the bookshop for placing AA>> orders. What a horrible task. That, on top of other things.. CP> So you use the laptop for work? That T60 laptop (my only laptop at the time) was the machine I carried around to do computer support work (using a mobile dongle to get internet) for at-home visits. Along the way, I adapted it to working at home to finish bookshop database things (MS Office Acess). It is configured so that all I have to do is copy the database file back and forth from a USB stick that I carry between shop and home. But with the T60 down, I don't have an @home pc for that. I have MS Access on an another desktop stored at the shop, but I don't feel like lugging that whole thing home and rearraging my workspace at home to use it. I opened the T60 last night to remove the keyboard to expose the fan/heatsink. But it requires more "screw"ing around to get to the fan. Not fun for me. If I can motivate myself, it would be worth a try to clean and lube the existing fan (unless it is an unserviceable design) ..and maybe get back online before the new replacement fan arrives in 2 weeks. I have a T540p from February.. but I never got around to moving the salient progs over to it. When the covid thing hit, I had to wonder what's the rush. --- * Origin: ----> Point Of VeleNo BBs (http://www.velenobbs.net) (2:333/808.7) .
