I know what you mean there...years ago we adopted 4 kittens from the ASPCA at a 
mall in Ithaca... I remember the "sales person/volunteer" asked us repeatedly 
if we were sure we want all 4...I did since they were all from the same litter, 
and their mom hadn't survived (I'm guessing coyotes got her, they are around 
here often enough, some nights you can hear them howling :( ). Anyway, they 
sure proved to be very very eh.. active :)  Eventually one moved in with our 
neighbor at the time, another one later "took off" for parts unknown (he was 
the only male in the group).. And I still have the last two here, "Lola" and 
"Lulu" (I thought about naming her Bertha, she was so big compared to her 
sisters :))  Here's a pic of them soon after we got them:

Neat :)  I saw the Cirque du Soliel show once when we went to Las Vegas 
....(once was enough for me Lol).
