Subj : eTA To : All From : Ward Dossche Date : Sun Oct 09 2022 11:07:19 To my Canadian friends ... 3 weeks from now I will be residing in Calgary for a short while, a very short while even ... Amazing that Canada is following the bad habbits from the USA and also requires an electronic "eTA" document costing CAD$7.00 for which they have to do nothing, I provide all the work ... times 3. They also ask stupid questions, but not as stupid as the US immigration services. In Canada they need to know the exact departure time of your inbound flight ... up to the minute. I wrap my mind around it why that is important but such things can only sprout from the minds of a de-brained civil servant, every country has them. They're even being paid to come up with such nonsense ... But what prompted me to write this is that when I was going through the process of filling out the questionaires everything seemed normal, all the links worked, all the addresses resolved ... up until the payment-page. I was requested to approve a CAD$55.00 payment to "the company" and the red-light flashed on ... it's only CAD$7.00, I know that, and went looking. Even at first sight I didn't really see it but then it hit: the site had been completely spoofed with 100% identical pages and probably if the innocent non-suspecting traveller paid the CAD$55.00 probably those guys would send the original request to Canada Immigration, pay the CAD$7.00 and keep CAD$48.00 for them. The "customer" would even be delighted about the quick service and never know he/she/it/them had been ripped-off. Clever. And it looked real good and professional. I even think you can't complain because you had to tick you understood everything and agreed with the payment of CAD$55.00 to "the company" ... The scammers are becoming real good ... \%/@rd --- DB4 - 20220519 * Origin: Many Glacier - Preserve / Protect / Conserve (2:292/854) .
