Hey August!

 AA> firesmoke.ca seems to indicate at least two wildfires to the

Nothing of any serious threat from what I hear.  I did hear they planned to close Hwy 4 at Cameron Lake for some maintenence due to the fire there earlier this summer.  That one had the largest impact economy-wise and apparently still does due to landslides.  Given that part of the island sees maximum amounts of rain in the rainy season I suspect there will be many more closures in the near future.  Other than that we've been extremely lucky.  :::knock on wood::

Beautiful country.  Haven't been in that part of the province since the sixties, but the northwest more recently in the 1990's (Souix Lookout and north).  Unreal amount of moose in those parts.
