Hey mark!

Try piping the output to 'fold -s -w 113' and you should see exactly what I 
see.  On the 7" monitor (arm-slackware-linux-gnueabi) it would be 'fold -s -w 
79".  I had to put on an extra large consolefont which resulted in much less 
columns in the display.

Same situation here ... and everywhere I'd imagine.
