I just tried 20160910 and see the same issues but didn't try golded+ yet.  
While we're talking about it, are you doing both libncurses and libncursesw?  I 
am/was just providing libncursesw.

I'll check and see later after I redo golded with 20160910 now that I have that 
patched to that level.
