I think your experiment might have messed up the message base at the bbs I got that packet from... in trying to "fix" what it saw as a problem, the extra message might have pushed the contents of all subsequent messages to show up under the wrong message headers.... the sysop had to purge the message base... and we had to figure out how to fix our last read pointers to get our messages....
