I don't use Argus or Windows for my fido computer, but eComStation (OS/2) and CantaLoup (a Binkley offshoot), but in my case I have an event once a day, at midnight, where the mailer is stopped, all the log files are renamed for the day of the current week (*.mon, *.tue ...) and put into a weekly archive (ZIP). I then keep five weeks of back archives for all processes (mailer, tosser, nodelist compiler and everything else). When a new weekly archive is made, the oldest of the five-week archives is deleted. I do all this with two REXX scripts, one to stop everything while the logs are renamed and archived and the other to do the actual work and start things again when finished. At the same time, the filebase is updated and indexed. It's all very logical, but unless you know my system quite complex to describe. If anyone is interested, I can send you the REXX scripts I use, which are pretty extensively commented.
