So it's pretty much standard. In other words - we'll have to port a
lot of goodies to get everything working as expected.

If you want to emulate a classic environment, there's not a whole lot
of ways you will be able to do it.

Losuy compile. It works. Else, use The GIMP. Even if it's free, it's
not bad for most of the things the average person wants to do in
image manipulation.
