I don't know that the US military consists MAINLY of unemployed people,
but it is a way for people with no or few skills to obtain employment and
training.  I joined the Air Force primarily to dodge the draft - which
tells you how long ago that was <grin> - but also to get some job training.
Twenty years, six months, eleven days, thirteen hours and forty minutes
later I retired from the AF and got a real job <grin> (and that was 36
years ago)
