I disagree with "for everybody."  Something else I learned in Canada is
that, despite what the US politicians claim, single-payer is not
"immediate" care and, like the right will tell us, they really do not cover
some things that private plans will.

I have a so-so private plan from my employer.  I have never had to wait for
care, beyond waiting for an open appointment.  I must also admit I have
never had anything major done.

While I was in Canada, I talked to a couple who lived in small town that
was several hours away from any large metropolitan area.  The government
had sent them a letter telling them that, because of their age, if they
wanted the government to continue to supply medical care for them, that
they would need to move to Toronto... a long ways away from the North Shore
of Lake Superior, where they loved being.  I was there, it was a nice place
if you like nature and gorgeous views of a beautiful lake.  I could see why
they loved it.

They told the government not to worry about it because, when they retire,
they plan to move to Florida and use the US private care system, which they
claimed would be better than what they had (they had lived in the USA for a
while before and were familiar with care here vs. there).

If Kamala gets her way, we won't have a private system anymore.  They may
wind up retired in Toronto.

A couple of days later, I ran into a Canadian-born US Army veteran.  He
joined the US Army instead of the Canadian one because he wanted to see
more of the world.  His kids are dual-citizens, and most of them choose to
live in the US.  Now, we are always being told about how horrible our VA
medical system is.  He lives in Canada, and has the right to use their
government-funded system.  However, he was on his way to the states because
the VA medical system is better than the government system in Canada, although
it is not as good as the private policies that his US-living kids have (his
paraphrased words).

If Kamala gets her way, I guess he will still have his VA benefits to fall
back on, but his kids will be up a creek (unless they can use his VA
benefits... then they will only be part-way up it).

Democrats don't like private health care because they do not like anyone
who makes more money than they do, unless they donate enough of it to their
campaigns.  Hence why they usually don't like the medical profession but
love union bosses and ambulance-chasing lawyers.

The only thing government care is good for is for people who cannot get it
any other way.  It is a good safety-net, but that is all... if eveyone has
to fall into it, it will break.
