The rumor is an Afghan drug smuggler did the deal. Then he left
the area for Mother Russia, where he remains in hiding. The value
of roubles is not much, around $140 for 10,000 of them.

Taliban warlords are not stupid. No way they are going to let
a two-bit drug smuggler swindle them out of a good deal. Remember,
Taliban live in caves, not mansions. And have no need for roubles.
Or dollars, for that matter. They do love poppies, though.

So please. Do not believe everything the NYT tells you. Their
reporters are far too gullible and will fall for anything.

The US invaded Afghanistan in 2001, sending its mighty US military
machine against the primitive Taliban tribesmen. Those same primitive
Taliban tribesmen are still there, in control of more than half of
the country, with a puppet government installed by the US being in
control of one city, the rest of the country being nothing more than
uninhabitable terrain.

The US also invaded Iraq, which accomplished nothing. The US remains
in Iraq, with the ayatollahs in Iran now pulling the strings rather
than Saddam Hussein.

Also, as a result of the US invasion of Iraq came the creation of
ISIS. This has left Russia and Turkey in charge of Syria, rather than
Syria's own bloody dictator. Not really sure if that is an improvement
or a disaster. Either way, the people of Syria are screwed.

If you want peace, work for justice. Making war is not, and never
will be, the answer. I am sure PFC Cross can fill you in more on this
subject.
