Assuming he does not win a second consecutive term, it is possible
he could be indicted, tried and convicted for crimes committed.
However, no former president has ever been tried and convicted, or
served a single day in jail.  And no former vice president (Aaron
Burr was tried, but found not guilty).

President Jefferson Davis was arrested after the fall of the CSA,
but never tried and convicted.  Or even charged with a crime.
Just held in detention, then let go after a time.

As such, I have my doubts if Donald J. Trump will ever spend a single
day in jail.  What may happen, and quite likely, is if he knows he has
no chance of winning the election he will resign from office, and let
President Pence grant him a full presidential pardon for all crimes
committed.

Kind of like what Nixon did with Ford.

What a fun race it would be between Fundamentalist Mike Pence
and non-Christian Yang Yang.

Read the articles of impeachment concerning Andrew Johnson.
What were the charges?  The Congress held he was a racist and
a bigot.  This was harmful to society.  That was the grounds.
Johnson was impeached by the House, but not removed from office
by the Senate.

Read US Rep. Al Green's comments concerning impeachment.  His
argument is basically the same as what was used against Johnson.
If what Trump is doing is harmful to society, that is valid
grounds for impeachment.
