I think if you are going to be programming for a system that is meant to do a lot of calculations *for* math or science, maybe. I programmed on systems that worked with taxes and child support payments for 27+ years and had to at least have a grasp on basic math... addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, how to figure out a percentage, etc... but never used any higher math.
