Agreed. These days, UTF8 (without BOM) is the norm for any extended characters. For that matter, just straight Markdown files themselves, since you can read them and they're pretty easy to understand as straight text and can use a markdown viewer/editor on whatever platform desired if so desired. -- Michael J.
