The Rennaisance followed the Crusades, and the revolution in math and science
are byproducts of crusaders bringing back knowledge and technology from the Mi
ddle East.  Someone else did all the hard thinking, and a bunch  of Europeans
patted themsleves on the back for applying someone else' work they stole.
