 Apologies as I don't have any solutions to present to you. I know
 enough to know that I can't help.

 Just wanted to comment on the recovery 'stuff'. In my day we used to
 call that 'junk'. I used to always keep that junk, but after years of
 not needing it and erasing the partitions I never looked back. Of
 course that was years later, always hesitated as 'I might need it'.
