I remember hearing how Apple started out with interest from computer clubs in the late 70s, I believe, which I think had a community of open computing and easy upgrades, etc. And in the late 90s-early 2000s, I remember seeing ads for their G4 Mac tower and G5 PowerMac towers, saying they're easy to open and upgrade.
