Was your subject (Sillicon) like on purpose? Apple forcing a CPU change isn't new (PowerPC, rip), but last time it took a while before they made it so you HAD to run the app in x86/Intel mode.

Is Apple planning to go cold turkey, like if you buy a new Sillycon Mac it flat out will not work with Intel based applications?

I'd wager you could still run Syncterm on a new Mac, but it'd be in emulated Intel mode or something.
