It will be interesting to see if ARM can expand more into desktops & such. It seems weird though, after the x86 architecture has been around in desktops and servers for so long. A switch to a different type of CPU would mean breaking backwards compatibility with a lot of software. An emulator could be created to handle the transition for a time, but eventually you'd still need to use emulation to use old software if you wanted to. I've heard Apple already plans to replace Intel with ARM-based processors in their Macs.
