I have a selection of cheap Chinese knock-off pens (One looks exactly like a 
Parker 51) but my daily driver is a Pilot Metropolitan. For under $20, it's 
a smooth writer with a nice balance.

I take notes daily in a variety of notebooks, never tried making my own.
