Subj : Re: VE To : Brian Rogers From : Daryl Stout Date : Thu May 27 2021 13:09:00 Brian, BR> A good friend of mine who's in the U.K. now was a VE before he left the BR> states to go back home to England... he also worked as QSL Manager at BR> ARRL HQ. That place is more pathetic than one can shake a Jpole at. Contesting is one thing that never appealed to me. And, I just eQSL now. BR> When he got word that licenenses are now going to contain a $35 fee, BR> and he doesn't get reimbursed for LEAGUE EXPENSES, he had the league BR> drop his VE status... and he won't be renewing. As for me, when mine BR> expires I will not be renewing either. Mine doesn't renew until I turn 69, just under 8 years from now. The way the powder keg in the Middle East is, I may not have to worry about being around by then. BR> Mug and A&W are my two favs :) BR> We have a hot-dog place that sells Birch Beer. I'm very familiar with BR> it. I'd say it's like a vanilla root-beer. Had one the other day as a BR> matter of fact. We also had some actual A&W restaurants too years ago. That sounds like it. There used to be an A&W in Hot Springs, Arkansas. A club in Ravenna, Ohio has a gathering at the area A&W every summer. BR> You are correct sir! Now do you remember in 1968 when they did an BR> episode of "Future News"... the year I think was 1980, then president BR> Ronald Regan... they were off by months! You bet your sweet bippy. BR> Been there, done that, got the T-shirt, mailed out the post cards. It BR> does help them because today's medical staff is very sloppy. You should BR> see how bad it is here! Or like the meme with the doctors on strike. You couldn't read the picket signs, as they were all written in shorthand. BR> Here they seem to have very selective hearing... you say one thing, BR> they translate it to something else which usually involves receiving BR> more pills to swallow or more needles to inject myself with. I only BR> keep a PCP because my insurance requires me to carry one. Most times I BR> can't even get through to them when I do need them. 1) Overmedicated?? We have a prescription for that. 2) Side effects may include hand and wrist pain...and that's from just trying to open the container. 3) Rare side effects may include death. BR> I'm tough when it comes to doctors. They've caused me a volume of BR> injury, and I catch them lying all too often. Pretty pathetic... and BR> their faces when you do call them on it is priceless! They get wined and dined by all the drug reps, then have to listen through their spiels. Some clinics restrict the time the drug reps can come into the places. Then you add the cost of radio/TV/print/ internet ads, and that's why they're so expensive...and why Big Pharma doesn't want things going generic. Daryl ....
