They're both holders for ammunication for feeding into a gun, but "clips" are
for older rifles (e.g. M1 Garand) and only hold casings by the lip/rim and are
open to the elements whereas magazines are more like boxes (to protect the
rounds from the elements and easier handling) with a spring-loaded "pusher" to
force the rounds into the gun.
