Handbrake could not find anything to pull off the DVD... well, except the
commercial tracks.  Those don't have any protection on them I guess.

I am not familiar with the other two but, based on the order you have them
in, I am assuming that Handbrake has to do something first that it cannot
do if it cannot find anything?
