A terminals' apps and outside communications came in the form of a big box in the basement, and allowed others to leave internal mail or send ort broadcast messages to the all the users or just one user. Users were locked down from using external devices that could introduce a virus. Chromebooks and Android desktops are great if you have the bandwidth. Again, apps are updated and managed from the source.
