I attribute the change in Boba's character to be the result of facing death,
then being "reborn" as part of a tribal social unit.  In the flashbacks as a
child, he would see Jango flying off, then later on filling his shoes (and
costume) living a life on anger and brutality to others.  He realizes his
life before was empty, and learned from the Sand people he could be happy in
a society with mutual earned trust and respect.
