The Warcraft ones were fine, even if the first one had an interface which left
a lot to be desired.

It is funny that Dune 2 is the last one you got into, since it is the first RTS
game that is recognizeable as such :-)

Out of boardgames and tabletop wargames I  do not know many turn based strategy
videogames. I think the only one I d be confident recommending is Battle for
Wesnoth.
