I don't watch TV and I don't read general press. Recently, I visited somebody who had the TV set turned on for background noise, and after about 3 years of not being exposed to TV news, I can only say I am horrified. The news there were just selling fear, shamelessly. It was like an obvious fear campaing. It was just as if they had given one of those madmen who preaches the Apocalypse with a cardboard sign a TV station and let him run the news. My theory is that they have turned the news into Apocalyptic propaganda so slowly that people who is regularly exposed to it has not noticed.
