While all of that is true, the word "stranded" would make me believe it 
has none of those things.

If you were in a town, or a hotel, you wouldn't be stranded.  You'd go 
along home.

Also, you made an assumption that it's an "island".  All he said was a 
"beach".  Plenty of beaches that aren't on an island.
