It is weird.  I guess retransmission costs money for the equipment & effort & things required to do the retransmission.  I was perfectly willing to donate to Locast to keep it going - and just a couple weeks ago, I actually donated $60 for a year to Locast.  Now that they've ceased operating so quickly, I feel kinda burned that I donated that not too long ago..

YouTube TV and Hulu with live TV are a couple alternatives to Locast where you can straem local TV, but each of those are about $65/month.  I don't think I'd want to pay that just to be able to watch local TV channels.  I know they have other content, but I'm not sure I'm interested in that right now.  I think $5/month (or $60/year) for the ability to watch local TV seems a lot more reasonable to me.
