Yet people you can trust, to a certain extent, are much more numerous than you
think.

I'd label those people as "co-dependants".  But I get your point.
But they do have a social structure that allows them to trust one another - at
least somewhat.

That's the problem of people staying in a child-like mentality much longer than
normal.  But that's a different problem.
