i'm not a big back the blue guy, but i felt sorry for those  police officers.
they had little or no help when all hell was breaking loose. those few citizens who picked up arms and defended their neighbors are heros.

it was bad there. you could be walking down the street and people would attack  you with bricks for no reason.  people were walking around firing guns into crowds.
