We all don't live in a city where there is public transit, or need to go
places where public transit will not take us.  I live 7 miles out of town in
the township, and once upon a time there was a train line that ran 3 miles
away, but that disappeared nearly 100 years ago.  The other issue is major
cities are too far apart.  If travel time was less than 2 hours between major
cities, commuter trains may be more popular.
