I was under the impression Lynx wasn't being updated any more, but I just 
looked and it's last change was 2018-Mar-21... so I may just look into adding 
it again.

IIRC there are options to run it fairly securely. Some sites have more text 
oriented, but a lot of the issue IMO is that the modern web is an absolute 
clusterfuck so it's hard to navigate around without a large screen, javascript, 
and so on.
