I've thought about making something for my BBS like that (what Synchronet calls a 'command shell').  I haven't yet though, as there's probably little benefit in it other than me perhaps finding it to be an amusing project to work on. I think there might actually already be a MS-DOS style command shell for Synchronet though - I seem to rememebr seeing one before.
