There were several in my area, but my favorite was some miles away. In fact, it took me two buses to get to it, but it was worth it. It was called Rick's Gameroom where you could get 20 tokens for a dollar, and they offered hot foot (burgers, hot dogs, fries, etc) and great prices. You could easily spend the whole day there for under 10 bucks, and I often did. It wasn't a huge place, but there was plenty of games to go around. They had all the current favs: Donkey Kong, Centepede, Frogger, etc. My favorites were Star Wars, Star Trek, Frogger, Centepede, Joust...and my best scoring game, Tempest; never got enough Tempest. It was a sad time when the arcade bubble burst. Within a couple months time, practically all the arcades in my area shut down. Rick's was the last to go, lasting about another six months. It was like some digital pandemic that spread throughout the industry. Fortunately, many of those classic games, including Tempest, can be played online...no tokens needed. But somehow, it's just not the same. .
