I watched the "Magical Egypt" documentary series, and learned that egyptians
used binary powers of 2 to perform multiplication and division, performing the
operation much like modern computers.

technology of extraterrestrial origin? Ancient alien theorists say yes ...

lol, but seriously, it's a neat trick, I've been practicing it lately, it's a
bit overkill for small multiplicands, it works very well for large
multiplicands. And the left-side, determing which powers of 2 can be summed to
produce the first multiplicand, is something all of us computer programmers
excel at!
