I wouldn't say its "grumpy people" but mostly folks that come from the days of
mainframes, CP/M and 80's tech, who are now retired with nothing better to do 
with themselves. Some may have had management positions in their careers. 

When Fido began to grow by leaps & bounds, many bad politics began to surface 
and some feelings were hurt amongst some very technical people with the 
growing pains. But I think the biggest on the surface, would be the
censorship. 

Its sad that something started by a gay anarchist turned into something where 
if you swear in an echo, you are threatened with a feed cut or some other 
draconian action.

It was not too long ago that an entire echo was placed on "read only" status 
which then triggered a massive shift in the way echomail is distributed.
