For what it's worth as an Othernet operator I don't mind interacting with
Fido and still support it, heck I'm a RC for my country in Fido parlance..
but I have found some active members in that network are not that welcoming as
I kinda hoped they could be to new names that pop up from time to time.

So I agree that kind of behavior does little to engender a positive image to
the network. While I do post in Fido from time to time I'm mostly focused on
my Othernet and trying to help folks involved in that with their BBS
interests.

There are certainly folks active in that network, and have been active for a
long time, that have that view and espouse it from time to time. If you're
someone new to the network and reading that it certainly does little to
install confidence in the longevity of the community you just joined or the
perceptions of the mindsets of those still active.
