mental possessions.)
The Five Observances (Niyamas)
1. Purity (saucha)
(Capacity to tell between essential and irrelevant)
2. Contentment (santosha)
(Sam=Complete Tosha=Acceptance)
3. Austerity (tapas)
(Selfless service, even in the smallest way, without thought of
reward.)
4. Study (svadhyaya)
(The search for true, universal knowledge, vs. mundane, relative
knowledge.)
5. Resignation to God (Isvara Pranidhana)
