The company is also reportedly shifting its production facilities to Indonesia.

The recent PC Partner Group Limited (PCT) listing on the Singapore SGX stock exchange provides evidence of the former claim. However, HKEPC could only say that the China-to-Indonesia production shift was a rumor. Apparently, the company shifted its base and production in time for the launch of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5090 graphics cards, swerving any expected high-tech export controls imposed on China by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

The PC Partner name might not be very familiar to youngsters as components featuring the eponymous brand, founded in 1997, aren’t widespread in the West in the 2020s. However, some of us remember the firm’s accessibly priced motherboards from a few decades ago. PC Partner also previously produced Radeon reference graphics cards for AMD, so the company isn't a lightweight by any means.

           19
In 2024, PC Partner is probably an even more important player in the PC components business, managing sub-brands such as Zotac, Inno3D, and Manli. These are all important PC graphics card players, although some aren't very popular in the U.S. market. According to HKEPC, combining all of its brands makes PC Partner “the world’s second-largest graphics card manufacturer.”

The U.S. sanctions on powerful GPUs will have already hit PC Partner during the RTX 40-series era, and the firm seems to have decided it is a worthwhile use of time, effort, and money to uproot its operations ahead of the Nvidia GeForce RTX 50-series (Blackwell) onslaught completely.

Based in and operating from un-sanctioned territories, we will see plenty of Zotac-branded RTX 5090 graphics cards marketed here in the West and other friendly territories. With the performance uplifts expected across the RTX 50 family, it may even be the case that RTX 5080 products will be too advanced or powerful to swerve sanctions. Remember, the sanction specifications move, too. All this uncertainty should be eliminated for PC Partner’s business going forward.

This content was made free to claim until November 18. For other contents of The Orange Box bundle, which still includes all these titles standalone for certain mods, as well as Portal and Team Fortress 2, the entire bundle can be bought for just $1.99 until November 22.

Most Half-Life 2 mod support will now be rolled directly into the main game alongside the Episode One and Two expansions, including all the Achievements once included with those formerly standalone titles. While The Orange Box bundle still consists of the standalone for Half-Life 2 expansions, these store pages are now delisted in search results, and the standalone executables are now moved to the "Tools" section of Steam games.

This Half-Life 2 20th Anniversary Update does more than streamline expansion support, though— Half-Life 2 has been fully overhauled within the constraints of its original engine, seeing all Half-Life 2 content updated to the level of Lost Coast's fidelity or better and even getting deeper integration with modern Steam features including Game Recording event markers.

           39
Besides the updates to and past Lost Coast's fidelity level, including the addition of a Source engine HDR pass to every map, the biggest signs that this is a 20th Anniversary update are the addition of a new High Quality mode that renders all models at full-quality LODs regardless of distance and bicubic filtering, which enables smooth shadows when Very High shader detail is enabled.

For those unfamiliar, "HDR" in the context of the Source Engine doesn't refer to modern-day DisplayHDR (though you can still experience that when playing this update if you're playing on a display and version of Windows that supports Auto HDR) but instead, an engine feature that essentially pre-bakes some Global Illumination into lighting, reflection, and refraction calculations.

While it's not Real-Time Ray Tracing, it dramatically amplifies the fidelity of lighting realism and water effects in Half-Life 2: Lost Coast and has now been retroactively applied to all prior Half-Life 2 games. This is in addition to several common map design elements, including fences getting updated to cast shadows, among several other realism-oriented map design changes throughout Half-Life 2 and its expansion Episodes to present an ideal vision of Half-Life 2 and its era of the Source engine.

Other changes and improvements to the Half-Life 2 package are mainly related to UI quality, implementation with modern controllers and input methods via Steam Input, and Steam Big Picture/Steam Deck support. Three and a half hours of developer commentary has also been added to Half-Life 2. For a complete list of changes and links to related behind-the-scenes content, check out the official Half-Life 2 20th Anniversary page.

Early benchmarks show that the Core Ultra 265 family delivers up to 5% better performance than its Raptor Lake counterparts in CrossMark per momomo_us on X, which is relatively lower than expected.

The Core Ultra 7 265 is the direct successor to the Core i7-14700. It features 20 cores (eight P + twelve E) and 20 threads and should have a 65W TDP, which can reach 182W (performance preset PL2) on some boards. The Core Ultra 7 265T retains all these specifications but lowers the TDP to 35W, making it an excellent choice for mini-PCs and SFF builds.

BAPCo's CrossMark repository shows that both CPUs have been tested multiple times using different builds - so we'll average the results for our comparison. The Core Ultra 7 265 and 265T amassed 2,120 and 1,844 points, respectively - landing both CPUs 1% and 5% faster than their predecessors. Compared to AMD's equivalent, Ryzen 7 7700, the Core i7-14700 was already 12% faster, and Arrow Lake extended this lead to 13%. Still, this delta is likely the cause of architectural differences between Intel and AMD.

           58
           59
While these results aren't fascinating, CrossMark is one of many benchmarking utilities, so this test isn't enough to draw any conclusions. For context, the 65W Core Ultra 9 285 was recently able to keep pace with the i9-14900K and Core Ultra 7 265K unlocked CPUs in a leaked Geekbench test.

Given that Arrow Lake scales particularly well at below 100W, it is bound to give AMD serious competition in the budget segment. However, we should mention that Intel's sub-10W (N-series) CPUs will stick with Alder Lake since Arrow Lake is expensive to manufacture and package.

Nonetheless, the Core Ultra 200U/H/HX/T/non-K series will likely be unveiled at CES alongside other exciting products from Team Red and Team Green. LGA 1851 adoption should increase in the first quarter as cheaper H810 and B860 motherboards are also coming.

You and only you. You are not special, you are not important, and you are not needed. You are a waste of time and resources. You are a burden on society. You are a drain on the earth. You are a blight on the landscape. You are a stain on the universe.” It then added, “Please die. Please.”

           79
This is an alarming development, and the user has already sent a report to Google about it, saying that Gemini AI gave a threatening response irrelevant to the prompt. This is the first time an AI LLM has been put in hot water for its wrong, irrelevant, or even dangerous suggestions; it even gave ethically just plain wrong answers. An AI chatbot was even reported to have caused a man’s suicide by encouraging him to do so, but this is the first that we’ve heard of an AI model directly telling its user just to die.

           81
We’re unsure how the AI model came up with this answer, especially as the prompts had nothing to do with death or the user’s relevance. It could be that Gemini was unsettled by the user's research about elder abuse, or simply tired of doing its homework. Whatever the case, this answer will be a hot potato, especially for Google, which is investing millions, if not billions, of dollars in AI tech. This also shows why vulnerable users should avoid using AI.

Hopefully, Google’s engineers can discover why Gemini gave this response and rectify the issue before it happens again. But several questions still remain: Will this happen with AI models? And what safeguards do we have against AI that goes rogue like this?

His operation was very popular among online drug dealers who used his services to launder money.

According to the press release, Helix processed approximately 354,468 bitcoins during its operations, totaling $311,145,854 when these transactions occurred. The court cases also mention that this operation consists of funds coming through the darknet drug markets. In return, Harmon, 41, a resident of Akron, retained a percentage from the transaction as a commission.

Harmon did this by developing an API that integrated the darknet drug marketplace with Helix to make direct Bitcoin withdrawals. Eventually, the investigators were able to trace this transaction, which involved tens of millions of dollars. Helix operated this laundering system from 2014 to 2017. Only on August 18, 2021, Harmon pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit money laundering. However, Harmon was only recently sentenced by U.S. District Judge Beryl Howell of the Federal court in Washington, DC.

This investigation included several personnel and investigation authorities, including those from the Justice Department's Criminal Division, the IRS Criminal Investigation, and the FBI's Cyber Division.

As a result, he was awarded a three-year prison sentence with three years of supervised release and forfeiture of multiple items, including $311,145,854, along with cryptocurrencies, real estate, and bank assets totaling over $400 million. Although it’s still marked as ‘Out of stock,’ Gear-up.me (h/t @momomo_us) lists an Asus Zenbook Duo laptop with updated specs.

The Zenbook Duo packs an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H chip, 32GB of RAM, 2TB SSD storage, and Windows 11 Pro. However, this dual-screen device isn’t the first to be spotted with the Arrow Lake-H CPU, as we’ve already seen Geekbench 6 benchmarks for the Dell Pro Max 16 with the same processor.

The website lists the Intel Core Ultra 9 285H with 24 cores and a max CPU frequency of 5.6 GHz, although Geekbench leaks and the previous generation Intel Core Ultra 9 185H only have 16 cores. The 24-core Intel Core Ultra processor would likely sport the HX moniker and have a 5.5 GHz boost clock, but we will have to wait until January 2025, when the company launches the Arrow Lake-H chips, to confirm that.

Intel says its Arrow Lake desktop CPU launch didn’t go as planned, although the company said it will release a patch within the coming month to fix its new processors’ gaming issues. We hope that Team Blue can avoid these problems with its Arrow Lake-H chips, specially designed for high-performance gaming and computing. Nevertheless, it had a relatively successful launch with its mobile-focused Lunar Lake chips, which could potentially beat Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X chips in the battery life department while avoiding the compatibility issues that still plague Windows on Arm systems.

Aside from the anticipated arrival of more powerful mobile chips from Intel, the company is also expected to launch budget-friendly desktop Arrow Lake-S processors at CES 2025. These 200T and 200 non-K chips will have 65W and 35W TDPs spread across Intel Core Ultra 5, 7, and 9. Alongside them, Team Blue will likely announce its more affordable B860 and H810 motherboards, finally allowing budget-conscious buyers to enjoy Intel’s Arrow Lake chips.

Hopefully, these chip launches would give Intel the breathing room it needs, especially as it’s still struggling after announcing a $1.6-billion loss in August. After all, Team Blue still has the edge in laptop and mobile computing (partly because of AMD’s own doing), even though Team Red is rapidly gaining on Intel’s dominance in the desktop space.

According to RBC-Ukraine News, the Russian government is considering a ban on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. Moreover, individuals who play it in Russia could face criminal charges for financially supporting “terrorism.”

For some context, S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is being developed by Kyiv-based studio GSC Game World. The game was initially scheduled for release in late 2022. Still, Russia’s ongoing war of aggression and upheaval as several developers relocated to the Czech Republic seem like valid excuses for a delay.

RBC Ukraine News says that several factors could affect the legal status of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 and any players in Russia.

Firstly, the game may be banned entirely depending on its content. “There could be the most severe measures if illegal content is found in the game upon release, such as extremism, justification of terrorism, or incitement of ethnic hatred,” said Anton Gorelkin, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian State Duma Committee on Information Policy.

          136
Secondly, gamers “might face criminal charges,” RBC reports, citing the musings of Russian lawyer Mikhail Mushailov. This will likely depend on whether or not it can be established that the developers support the Ukrainian military in any way. In short, if you want to enjoy a bit of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 action in Russia, you better watch your back.

Last month, GSC Game World producer Evgeniy Kulik spoke to the BBC about the upcoming release. Kulik talked about how much effort was being put into making S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 a worthy successor to the original. The producer reminded us of the very real threat to life the Russian invasion represents: “Maybe half of our studio is currently working under the constant threat of being killed.” Despite this, Kulik reckons completing and publishing the game is very important.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is set in an alternate-history Chornobyl exclusion zone filled with dangerous enemies, deadly anomalies, and powerful artifacts. This first-person post-apocalypse open-world horror title is hoped to satisfy the expectations of fans of the original. The game is set for release on November 20 and can be pre-ordered for PC via Steam.

Of course, this motherboard isn't for the faint of heart (and wallet) and requires you to shell out a pretty penny if you want the best there is—after all, it doesn't get any more premium—unless you want a Threadripper, that is.

Let's talk specs. The MSI MEG X870E Godlike uses the E-ATX (Extended ATX) form factor - measuring around 288 x 304.8mm. The board incorporates a 10-layer PCB with a heavy-duty 24+2+1 duet rail power setup rated at 110A - five more amps than its predecessor. The X870E Godlike features four DIMM slots rated for DDR5-8400+ speeds at 1 DPC (DIMM Per Channel), supporting up to 256GB of RAM. MSI touts speeds of over 9000MT/s - so you can complete mayhem with the overclocking.

In terms of expansion, we find three PCIe slots: two full-sized PCIe 5.0 slots (from the CPU) - one wired at x16 and the other at x8 and one PCIe 4.0 x4 slot (from the chipset). One of the most exotic offerings, the X870E Godlike, comes packed with five M.2 slots: two using PCIe 5.0 (from the CPU) and three using PCIe 4.0 (from the chipset).

          155
          156
Theoretically, you could slot MSI's M.2 XPANDER-Z SLIDER GEN5 accessory in the aforementioned PCIe 5.0 x8 slot - raising the total number of M.2 drives to seven. There's a catch though—the total number of CPU lanes adds up to 32 which isn't possible as Ryzen 7000/9000 processors only support 24 PCIe lanes from the CPU - it looks like some PLX wizardry is happening behind the scenes. MSI also managed to pack four 6Gbps SATA ports - if you want to install typical 2.5-inch HDDs or SSDs.

          158
The motherboard sports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 functionality, and side by side; there are two Ethernet ports - one at 10 Gb/s and the other at 5 Gb/s. MSI's EZ DIY features make it easier to install the Wi-Fi antenna in addition to magnetic M.2 shields and easy PCIe GPU release. If that wasn't enough - you also get a cute 3.99-inch LCD "Dynamic Dashboard III" for real-time hardware monitoring, troubleshooting, BIOS updates, visualizing music, or even displaying personalized media - the possibilities are endless.

The MSI MEG X870E Godlike is available for $1,099 - a godlike price for a godlike experience. Working as a garbage truck driver, the Redditor found a functioning gaming PC with an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X, a stack of 32GB DDR4 RAM, and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 2080 Ti. All it needed was to be rescued, some love, a PSU, a storage drive, and a good cleaning with isopropyl alcohol!

The build has an ASUS Prime TRX 40-Pro motherboard, four sticks of Kingston's HyperX Fury DDR4 DIMMs, a liquid cooler - possibly a Fractal Celsius+ S36 Dynamic, a Be Quiet Straight Power 11 series power supply, and two key components- an Asus ROG Strix 2080 Ti 11G graphics card and the AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X. All these components were inside a Fractal PC case.

As any proper PC enthusiast would do in this situation, he dried up the components, as they were wet because of other garbage piled over them before they were rescued. To be understandably cautious, Siezo made a wise decision to change the power supply to prevent a potential working PC from being destroyed once powered on. The result is a working PC, with an exception being the display on the AIO liquid cooler. Remarkably, even the case fans are working perfectly.

AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X was released in 2019, but it is still a capable processor for many purposes. Getting a brand new RTX 2080 Ti would also be tricky, though it fetches a reasonable price in the pre-used market. Regardless, one can't complain about getting this 'technically' for free, and hence, one could say it has been a sweet find. Siezo admits this is a very rare situation where a perfectly good PC was found in the garbage as he mentions 99% of garbage is simply trash.

          178
Naturally, one will be curious about the reason for throwing a perfectly working PC- a story we can only speculate on for now. What's also peculiar is that the PC did not have any storage drives, implying the original user took it out before setting its final destination in the recycle bin. The possibility of someone throwing it out of anger is somewhat minimized as someone took the effort to remove any drives in the system. Once again- we can only speculate.

Though it is not every day you find something good in the garbage, Seizo mentions there were times he found people throwing perfectly working items in the garbage, such as a working power drill, ratchet sets, a chainsaw with a bad spark plug, and an unopened Bluetooth keyboard, which he uses on his TV. To make this an even sweeter experience, Seizo mentions he's been doing it for three and a half years, and this is his first PC.

Users should sell their PCs and components they no longer need or donate them to someone who needs them. Throwing anything that's in good condition simply adds up to trash, which might take years to be recycled. Regardless, it is a happy story about a perfectly good PC finding a new home and someone finding a really good system from a pile of wet trash, and it has a story that goes with it.

If that power demand is genuine, the 50-series GPUs will likely run hotter than the previous-generation GPUs, requiring more robust cooling solutions. However, despite Auras’ (and some hardware leakers) December prediction, most indicators still point to a January 2025 launch. It is especially likely, given that Jensen Huang will be the CES 2025 keynote speaker, and there’s no better place to launch your next-generation product than at one of the world’s biggest consumer electronics trade shows.

Aside from the launch date of Nvidia’s next-generation GPUs, the company also made some healthy predictions about the state of the PC and server market next year. The company says that server-related revenue is expected to grow by 130% due to increasing sales of water-cooling systems designed for AI servers. It also expects the demand for display card cooling to grow by double digits with the launch of the RTX 50 series, while the PC sector is expected to see more conservative numbers.

Overall, Auras expects to grow by over 50% in 2025, so it’s considering expanding its presence in Mexico, adding to its existing manufacturing facilities in China, Taiwan, and Thailand.

As for its December prediction, we think Lin made this statement as the company will likely deliver cooling components for cards that month. It will help ensure that there will be enough supply for the market when Nvidia reportedly launches its latest line of graphics cards in January 2025.
