I really like the idea of making my own lemonade. My initial attempts were discouraging [1] and didn't resemble the actual thing at all. Around that time my father asked me to taste his attempts at making kvass, a rye bread drink flavored with fruit. I didn't like the taste at all and didn't like malt beer either. Many years later I've grown to enjoy malt beer. I stumbled upon kvass online, yet remained skeptical of its description as "Pig's lemonade". This changed after watching a video from the "Life of Boris" YouTube channel and convinced me to give it another try. I'm greatly enjoying the result and found it to resemble less sugary lemonade, with a refreshing effect not unlike beer. Like many folk remedies it supposedly has many health benefits, but I'm skeptical of those. [1]: One recipe called for baking soda and sugar, another one for honey, salt and hot water. I can't recommend either.
