Guidelines for Submitting a Teach-It Module Teach-IT modules represent a new genre of scholarly publishing. Submissions are refereed and accepted modules are published in a Teach-IT monograph as traditional print articles as well as electronically via the Teacher Education Internet Server. Chapter Two of the Teach-IT Monograph deals with the concept of the Teach-IT series in more detail. Near the end of that chapter there is a starter list of topics for which no instructional modules exist at present. If you are interested in developing a Teach-IT module on a topic, whether it is on that list or not, we suggest you look at the instructional materials in this monograph. Then carefully study the directions for creating a module. Once you have an idea of how this genre of scholarly writing is constructed, develop your first draft of the module. Try it out in a class for at least one semester. Then revise the module and send a hard copy as well as a disk copy to: How Do I Contribute to the Series? If you are interested in submitting a module for publication, feel free to send a note to Jerry Willis, the developer of the Teach-IT series. Indicate the topic and format of the proposed module. The note should, if possible, be an e-mail message. Jerry's e-mail address is: On Internet: jwillis@jetson.uh.edu On Bitnet: jwillis@jetson If someone else is already working on the same topic, the focus or approach can usually be adjusted so that your contribution is not competing with another for inclusion. As you plan your module look carefully at the modules online and the descriptiuons in the Teach-IT monograph. Although the format and strategies used in the different modules vary considerably, they do illustrate several successful approaches to developing instructional material that can be used in more than one setting. Feel free to develop your modules using PageMaker, but if you are not proficient with that desktop publishing package you can create your module in a standard word processor such as Word and we can handle the next step. When you have your draft of a module ready to submit, send a paper and disk copy (indicate the type of file on the disk) to: Jerry Willis, Director Center for Information Technology in Education College of Education University of Houston Houston, TX 77204 Phone: (713) 743-4972 Fax: (713) 743-9870 .
