The First Teacher Education CD-ROM, Macintosh Version 1.7 --------------------------------------------------------- - Need to show students an educational simulation and a tutorial program? - Need clip art for a new lesson or newsletter? - What about a photograph of an astronaut in the shuttle. - Would your students understand electronic books for children better if they had several to explore? - Does the lecture on non-linear editing need a demonstration of how the current programs work? - Should the teachers in your inservice workshop be able to explore educational software in their content area? - Would the students in your methods class learn more about teacher utilities if they conducted hands-on comparisons of four or five gradebooks, test programs, and student databases? - Does the school district you're working with need guidelines on creating a long range plan for technology integration? If you answer "Yes" to any of these questions, there is a new CD-ROM for you. The First Teacher Educational CD-ROM was created specifically for teacher educators. Use it yourself; adopt it as a "text" in courses you teach; make it a part of your inservice work. This CD-ROM contains over 500 megabytes of programs, clip art, and documents of particular interest to teacher educators. The CD, which was developed at the University of Houston's Center for Information Technology in Education, contains a wide range of material. There are, for example, demo versions of popular educational and commercial programs. The CD also contains many shareware and freeware programs of interest to teacher educators. The programs are organized into ten major categories: communications, fonts, fun, graphics, instructional technology, productivity, sound/music, subject matter software, teacher utilities, and general utilities. The subject matter folder is further subdivided into eleven folders: counseling, crafts, early childhood, health, language arts/reading, languages, Logo, math, science, social studies, and test preparation. Each category contains a special ReadMe file that describes the programs. To create this CD, over 20 gigabtes of material was evaluated and the best programs, documents, and files for education were selected. For example, the CD contains a large collection of clip art and photographs including many NASA space photos. Several shareware programs for viewing the images are provided as well. A documents folder on the CD has electronic versions of many classics in literature such as Anne of Green Gables and The Time Machine as well as an electronic version of the 1994 Technology and Teacher Education Annual. The First Teacher Education CD-ROM has been designed for ease of use. None of the programs and documents have been compressed. To use most of them all you do is double click the icon! A few programs must be copied to your hard disk drive before use but most will run from the CD-ROM. Order your copy of The First Teacher Education CD-ROM today.
