The wrapper changing umask only works on the local machine (it won't
change the umask for a ssh/webdav/etc archive).

But if both of you work on the same machine, then yes, that would work.

There are tricks that exist to set up you account such that when you
connect to it using tla the umask is set, but when you connect to it
normally the umask is left at the default.

But it's probably easiest to just setup the shared account between your
developers.
